Busy Bee & Browser Musings
filed in General on Dec.15, 2009
Wow. Nothing like not posting for a month. But, in addition to the holiday madness that seems to come up at this time of the year, oddly enough, I also find myself really busy with freelance work.
Not that I am complaining, but it has cramped my posting style. So apologies, but until the new year dawns, postings may be few and far between.
One interesting tidbit I came across though & thought I would share. I downloaded the beta of Chrome for Mac OS X last week. I had been using it on the PC side of my machine for a while now. I guess I like it, but honestly, my big debate has been to use either Firefox or Safari as my primary browser. Chrome is really used at this point to make sure all looks well in it. The struggle over Safari/Firefox continues for me, as I still really prefer Firebugs debugging feature over the one on Safari 4.0. However, I have read that there are some major updates due out shortly.
An interesting note about Chrome though from Computerworld though. It seems that Chrome pushed past Safari into the No. 3 spot. You can read the full article here, but it does mean that rather than a luxury, all of my sites will now be tested in Chrome Mac and PC as well.
However, coming to a business decision, after the first of the year, I am not carrying support for IE 6 any longer for my clients. Of course, I take certain precautions like the PNG fix etc, but with so many new broswers, I am only going to support IE 7 & 8.
So that is all I have for my December musings. I hope to have one more post before the end of the year, possibly on a new site launch, but if things continue to be this busy, maybe not. If not, Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it!
