So, Google is taking Chrome out of Beta, time frame is supposed to be January 09. This is most likely due to Google’s decision to increase market share by convincing OEMs to bundle Chrome with new PCs who won’t accept a Beta product.

My question though, how can a product so relatively new out of the Google gate get the green light, while Google’s Gmail (despite having a range of features) has been, and is still in Beta? How long has it been now? Years for sure.

But Chrome is still an immature product. Speed is its greatest advantage but preliminary tests of Firefox 3.1 Betas show it is likely to match, if not beat, Chrome. In addition Firefox has a wide variety of addons which Chrome is yet to match.

I just think Google is better off developing a fuller product and then distributing the product at that point rather than ship an incomplete product only to have users switch to a fully tested and more complete browser. And while they are at it-do something about Gmail. I love the product, but maybe it is some kind of accountability issue? Don’t know, just seems odd.
